Trump's reciprocal tariffs hit Asia hard
The growth outlook has unambiguously worsened across the board.
The Trump administration’s ‘reciprocal tariffs’ are out. Only it seems that tariff rates didn’t have much to do with how these rates were arrived at. The experts on X figure that it’s just the ratio of the bilateral US trade deficit with a country to the US imports from that country, with a min rate of 10%.
Now that we know how much thought went into these rates - which are likely to wreak havoc on global trade and growth - let’s turn to more important matters.
